Overdentures — Snap-On Dentures with Implants
Overdentures are a clever upgrade on regular dentures. A few dental implants (usually 2–4) are placed into your jawbone, and your denture literally SNAPS onto them like a button. You still take the denture out at night to clean it, but during the day it's locked in place — no slipping, no adhesive, no embarrassing moments at the dinner table!.
Benefits:
• Much more stable and secure than regular dentures
• Implants help preserve your jawbone so it doesn't shrink
• Still removable for easy cleaning
• More affordable than a fully fixed implant bridge
• A great middle ground between dentures and All-on-X
Risks:
• Requires minor implant surgery (usually 2–4 implants)
• Healing time of a few months before the final denture snaps on
• The snap attachments wear out over time and need occasional replacement
• Still a removable appliance — some people prefer fully fixed teeth
Alternatives:
If you love the idea of teeth that never come out, a full All-on-X fixed bridge gives you that permanently attached feel. If surgery isn't an option, conventional dentures remain a solid choice
